Bushings are an integral part of transformers, high voltage circuit breakers and other power system assets. Unfortunately, surveys and studies have shown that bushings are also a big contributor to power transformer failures. Any deterioration in the insulation condition of a bushing, especially if not diagnosed at an early stage, can develop rapidly and lead to catastrophic failure of not only the bushing, but also the associated apparatus, and its ancillary devices.
