There is a critical relationship between human performance, safety, and organizational style of management. Organizational culture, employee involvement and participation, and safety are affected by the way leaders manage employees. A de-centralization approach opens opportunities for organizations and increases advanced performance and behaviors among employees by moving responsibility for decision-making and implementation to the operational levels of the organization. Employees who have a degree of freedom for decision-making and risk-taking within an organization will take the initiative to seek new and efficient ways and approaches to do their work. This presentation will cover the relationship between safety and human performance and styles of management and advantages of a de-centralization approach to human performance and safety by empowering employees to bring decisions about safety and performance to the level where knowledge of safety problems and awareness of relevant solutions reside.
