A common test performed in the field for both commissioning and routine testing, the results of the sweep frequency response analysis (SFRA) are only as good as the test setup. Routinely setup-related issues result in test measurements that are not an accurate indication of the apparatus condition. For those new to the test or with little experience in the evaluation, SFRA test measurements can be difficult to interpret under the best of circumstances. Understanding proper test setup, as well as the common issues that cause problems, can greatly improve the test measurement and the follow-on evaluation. This topic will discuss common test setup problems and their impact on SFRA results.
