Similar in test connections and execution, both leakage reactance and frequency response of stray losses are important transformer diagnostic tools, but very different in terms of what they are looking for. In this presentation, we will define the purpose and execution of both tests and what they can tell us about the mechanical and electrical health of the transformer. Simple to execute and evaluate, these two tests have their respective place in both commissioning and routine diagnostic testing.
