Presented By Jay Gosalia, Power Diagnostic instrument Co.
Sweep Frequency Response Analysis (SFRA) is a very powerful tool test engineers have in the field to assess mechanical condition of the transformer. The failure of the transformer can be very catastrophic and has a long wait time before replacement can be available. In this session, the basic concept of SFRA method to detect the mechanical integrity of the transformer will be discussed along with the tips for testing and acquiring good data. Acquiring good data is very important for the correct determination and diagnosis of the mechanical condition of the transformer. Requirements of IEEE and IEC standards requirements will be discussed. Good practices summarized in CIGRE document will be presented. The session will focus more on how to analyze the test data and also be presented with a number of field case studies so the attendees will get a good idea on how to analyze the data and which are the parts of the data are important for the analysis.
